Hello People,

I am Diksha Bhandari aka Gypsy Pahadan. Full-time dreamer | Part-time writer | Lifetime traveller.

If you have landed on this page, I am assuming you have read my blogs. You smartypants have already guessed how much I love travelling and sharing my experiences with the world. But I’ll share a secret with you. Shh!!! bring your ears closer. “Actually I love mountains, and travelling happens to be a part of this relationship by default.”

I have always loved the mountains. When I was young, my parents used to take me to our hometown, Pauri, Uttarakhand, during summer breaks. (Yes, I am a pahadi for real.) I never liked the ‘coming back to Delhi’ wala part. I hated it. Even today, saying goodbye to the mountains breaks my heart. I have promised myself that one day, I’ll build a house in the mountains because tbh, this long-distance thing is not working, yarr. Anyway, till then I am a gypsy who travels back and from the mountains, kyunki paapi paet ka sawal hai.

How did it all start?

The big bang of gypsypahadan.com did not happen overnight. I enjoy creating content. Instagram was my venting space for a very long. When lockdown happened, and we were all trapped in our homes, I started writing travelogues on travel websites. Fortunately, my articles did well. I could not believe that people were interested in reading my travel stories. However, my friends kept pushing me to start a personal travel blog, but I could never muster enough confidence to do so.
When the second lockdown happened in 2021, I knew it is either now or never. I told myself to shun all the inhibitions for a while and do what I truly want to. In the worst-case scenario, it will be a flop show, people will not pay heed to it, there will be no traffic on my website, things will not work out as per the plan. I realised, by doing nothing, I was anyway abandoning my plans. Finally, I decided to take this leap of faith. After two weeks of hard work and two years of garnering courage, gypsypahadan.com saw the light of day.

What do I do other than travelling?

Huh, you came to this page to know this, right. Well, it’s the most commonly asked question, no doubt. I am a working professional who has a routine 9-6 job. I work as a Content Manager at an IT firm in Noida. Yes, I sponsor all my trips. I don’t take brand sponsorships. Not as of now. (unless, of course, something meaningful and relatable comes along. Not doing for the heck of it)

How did I start travelling?

This entire personality of my mine would not have come to light if not for the love of mountains. I started travelling when I completed college and started earning. Yes, late bloomer, I know. I had gone on other weekend trips earlier, but my office trip to Manali in 2017 was a rite of passage. Travelling became a part of me after this trip.
I am always up for chit chat. Feel free to make the first move at findingdiksha@gmail.com. Let’s talk travel!

How do I manage to travel so often?

I get this question a lot. People have so many questions deeming finances, work-life balance, family, etc. Well, I have answered all these questions in my article – how this middle-class working woman manages to travel every month.
